The Yale Undergraduate Aerospace Association (YUAA) is dedicated to air and space exploration. Founded in 2010, YUAA has grown into one of the largest student-run organizations at Yale University. Each year, YUAA designs, builds, and launches multiple engineering projects in addition to hosting lectures and other aerospace-related events on campus.
The Yale Undergraduate Aerospace Association promotes and advances aerospace engineering through collaboration, innovation, and outreach. YUAA cultivates leaders who meet challenges with discipline and creativity.
YUAA has four exciting projects planned for 2013-2014. The team will
- Participate in a high-power rocketry competition,
- Deploy a UAV from a rocket,
- Fly a quadcopter to take aerial photographs, and
- Conduct hybrid rocket motor research.
Last year, YUAA won the Astro-Egg Lander event of the Battle of the Rockets Competition in Culpeper, VA and launched SkyView, a high-altitude balloon-borne aircraft featuring real-time tracking and communication.
YUAA welcomes everyone, regardless of prior experience, skill level, or academic background. Team members learn, link, and apply the many techniques and disciplines that constitute aerospace science and engineering. YUAA grows by building long-term relationships with Yale students and faculty as well as with local and national off-campus organizations.
